Dr. Ashley Dawson is originally from Duluth, GA. For her undergraduate studies, she attended Kennesaw State University for two years before following her athletic coach to the University of Oregon where she competed in one of the first acrobatics and tumbling teams. She then went on to complete her dental degree at Howard University College of Dentistry.
Upon completing dental school and then a one-year hospital residency at NYU Lutheran Medical Center, Dr. Dawson joined a group practice in upstate New York where she practiced for two years. She is passionate about pursuing continuing education and often has classes on the horizon to help hone her dental knowledge.
Dr. Dawson has always been committed to serving others. In high school, she shadowed multiple different health professionals but fell in love with dentistry when she was encouraged to visit a family dentist. Dentistry stood out to her amongst the other healthcare fields because she saw she could combine her passion for art and science with quality time with patients. That quality time is important because Dr. Dawson enjoys sitting down and getting to know her patients and their goals so that she can put a plan in place to serve them with the best care.
When it comes to her work, Dr. Dawson is passionate about turning someone’s guarded smile into something they are proud of. She finds it rewarding to break down that barrier of fear and self-doubt by proving to patients that they do not have to be afraid of the dentist and that it can actually be an enjoyable experience. Known for being patient and honest, she always has her patients’ best interests in mind. Dr. Dawson wants her patients to know that they are being heard and that if it is important to them, then it is important to her and they will work together to make their goals happen.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Dawon enjoys helping pre-dental students work on their applications for dental school and prepare for interviews. She is passionate about learning new things that will help improve her quality of life whether it’s listening to a cool podcast or learning a meditation technique. Dr. Dawson and her husband are excited to explore North Carolina and see all that it has to offer. She likes to hike, read, go to concerts, travel, workout, and eat all the great local food. She also loves sports, especially gymnastics and football.
