Natural wear and tear can cause teeth to decay, crack, or chip over time. With the help of dental crowns, our Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry team can restore, strengthen, and reshape teeth. Our toothlike crowns can improve the health and appearance of your smile. Most people won’t even be able to tell the difference between your crown and your natural teeth!
What Is a Dental Crown?
Dental crowns permanently cover damaged or broken teeth. They are made out of a wide range of materials, including acrylic resin, gold, or porcelain. Our team will recommend which crown material is right for you based on your specific needs and your budget.
The Dental Crown Process
The process for creating and placing dental crowns happens in two to three dental visits in a two to three week time span. At your first appointment, we remove decay, reshape the tooth to accommodate the crown, and fit you with a temporary crown while your permanent one is made in an off-site dental lab. When your custom-made crown is complete, we bond it to your tooth and ensure it fits properly. After your permanent crown is placed, you can get back to enjoying the benefits of a healthy, beautiful smile.
Dental Crowns FAQ
How much do crowns cost?
The cost of crowns depends on the size, location, and material used. Our office offers a variety of financial options to help you restore your smile without breaking the bank. During your evaluation, we’ll provide you with an accurate cost estimate and answer any questions you may have about financing.
Are crowns temporary?
A high-quality crown that is properly cared for can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years. However, if it’s not taken care of, it can crack, and your natural tooth underneath can decay.
Is the crown procedure painful?
At Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry, our patients’ comfort is our top priority. We numb the area while we work, so the most you should feel is slight pressure. We also offer relaxing sedation options, and work at a pace that’s right for you. We strive to make your dental crown procedure as stress-free as possible.
